A Little Greener

I have a discovery to share.

I recycle any and everything possible and I have been collecting my burnt out fluorescent light bulbs, knowing they have a toxic gas inside them. However, I didn't know what to do with them!

Good News! Home Depot has a free fluorescent light bulb recycling drop box just inside their entrance! Your Home Depot probably has one too!

I-doe

Julia's favorite thing to say is, "i-doe." She says it all the time and has been for about a month. Problem is, we are not sure what it means. Ha!

11 Months

Julia says, "Mama," "Uh-oh," and "Nigh-Nigh" (Night-Night).

I think her hair has settled on blond and her eyes have settled on green.

She is wearing clothes in size 12-18 months and shoes size 4.

Drums, maracas, tambourines and a recorder are amongst her favorite toys.

Julia loves to stand up and bounce to any and every music she hears.

She still wakes up a few times to nurse each night and is co-sleeping. We hope to start transitioning her to sleeping through the night on her own. She has stopped napping in the afternoon and now only napping late in the morning.

Julia's typical day looks like this:
7:30 Wake-up
8:00 Breakfast
8:30 Dress and playtime
10:30 Snack
11:00 Nap
12:30 Lunch
1:00 Visit the library or something else fun out and about.
3:00 Snack and playtime
5:30 Dinner
7:00 Night time routine

Car rides seem to be getting a little better. Less crying and more kid music.

Julia has 6 teeth. She never eats baby food and only eats finger food.

She walks everywhere. She stopped crawling about a week ago.

Each month I tell Scott, I want her to stay this age. He always responds, no you don't. He knows that I can't wait to see what comes next!

Swim School

Julia and I started swim lessons, at Safe Swim, last week and we love it! The instructor, Ms. Lindsey, sangs fun songs and has the students act it out.

Here is an example, sung to the tune of 'Kids on the bus.'

The kids in the pool go splash, splash, splash! Splash, splash, splash! Splash, splash, splash!
The kids in the pool go splash, splash, splash all day long!

The kids in the pool go up and down (I left Julia high into the air)! Up and down! Up and down!
The kids in the pool go up and down all day long!

Meow

Julia's favorite book has been Twinkle Toes since she was old enough to respond to things. However, now she enjoys CAT, even more. CAT, by Matthew Van Fleet, is a touch and feel book that squeaks and has moving parts. She turns the pages by herself and 'reads' it all of the time. I love how she tries to softly pet the cats with one finger.

She's Walking!

Julia is now taking three or more steps! She started this on New Year's Day. Back in November, during Thanksgiving break, she started making one or two steps.

However, now she is walking here, there, everywhere!

Scott and I spend our days saying, did you see that?!?!?
