Sunny Days, Sweeping the Clouds Away

Julia loves Sesame Street. It is the only show that gets her attention. I discovered this by chance months ago and was thankful for the discovery. Each day, while Julia watches a recorded show, I get 15 whole minutes of shower/get dressed time! I love it! She loves it! Especially 'Murray and his little lamb.' (Just between you and me, I think Murray is Papa's favorite too!)

I'm not one of those moms that are anti-all T.V. However, I am very aware of exactly how much and the content. Sesame Street is my saving grace, my deep breath knowing she won't cry for me just when I get shampoo lathered up in my hair, my flash of time to clean my teeth, my baby sitter each morning and a show I remember enjoying as a little girl. I love you Sesame Street. Happy 40th anniversary!

Being Me - A Good Quote

"There was something so valuable about what happened when one became a mother. For me it was the most liberating thing that happened...Liberating because the demands that children make
are not the demands of a normal "other."

The children's demands on me were things that no one else ever asked me to do. To be a good manager. To have a sense of humor... And they were not interested in all the things that other people were interested in, like what I was wearing or if I were sensual.

Somehow all the baggage I had accumulated as a person about what was valuable just fell away. I could not only be me - whatever that was - but somebody actually needed me to be that."

Smiles for Grandma and Grandpa Garner

Happy Birthday Papa!

Trick or Treat

Julia's first Halloween was filled with excitement! We started the day by going to brunch with some friends (who also dressed up). Mommy went as a witch and Julia went as a lamb.

Then we came home to decorate pumpkins. Papa skipped carving this year and chose a more baby friendly way of making a jack-o-lantern. Julia was a good helper. They made one green monster, one little silly monster and one princess. Great job you two!

Julia got into her lady bug costume for the trick-or-treaters. However, I think all the excitement was too much and she was asleep before the doorbell rang.

45 minutes later she was up again and joining in the fun! Then we went to a Halloween get together at our friend's Taylor and Carmen's house.

Happy FIRST Halloween!!!!
